ABOUT

“Our songs are about our lives and everyday experiences. Putting it all out there can be daunting, especially if it’s raw and personal, but for listeners to really connect you have to come from a genuine and open place.”
The Melbourne-based trio Paula and Lee Bowman (Identical Twins) and Julian Sammut are Jetty Road. They have a sound described as a tapestry of pop and country, with a hint of folk. Imagine The Corrs, Fleetwood Mac and The Dixie Chicks with a unique Australian flavour. Jetty Road is a band with a story to tell.Their 2015 Album Hearts On Fire has firmly reinforced the band’s status as one of the premiere acts in Australian Country Music. After seeing their previous album Far Away Places debut at #9 on the ARIA chart, and the first two singles off the new album chart at #1 across the country, the hopes were high for the album release. This potential was realized when the new album reached a new high for the band of an ARIA #2 album chart position on release.Travelling half way across the globe to Canada to record once more with producer Paul Shatto at the helm, the new album is a reflection of the band’s emotional journey over the past few years.
January 2015 marked their 10-year anniversary together, a milestone rarely seen within the industry today. It’s easy to see the progression from their humble beginnings at Australia’s Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2005, from busking on Tamworth’s famous Peel Street to winning Golden Guitar Awards.
After returning from Tamworth in 2005 it didn’t take long for the group to start racking up some credentials. A chance meeting with Australian country music legend James Blundell turned into an 18-month tour as his support act that provided the band with exposure across Australia. A decade on this talented trio are now stars of Country Music in their own right and they’ve traveled the world doing Australia proud during numerous international tours and major North American festival appearances. Taking their music to the world stage has been a career highlight for the group.
“There are songs that speak of love, joy, betrayal, heartbreak, hope and everything in between, a little bit like riding a rollercoaster. Whether that’s in a lyric, a melody or simply the way a song makes you feel.”

“On previous albums we had a very specific direction and end-point in mind. This time we simply wrote the song for the song, for what it was. We did the same recording in the studio. We went in to the process with open minds and let the music guide us.”
Their new album represents an invigoration in sound and musical styling, incorporating the signature Jetty Road harmonies and percussion with evolved songwriting. The group’s decision to go where the music took them has delivered an organic, contemporary sound and some of the best songs they’ve ever written.
